Five Rules for Inspirational Parenting

Five Rules for Inspirational Parenting is a companion series within The 7 Skills to impress™.

It applies the Identity Model to everyday family life, showing how small, repeated interactions quietly shape a child’s sense of Safety, Belonging, Esteem, Capability and Sense of Purpose.

The Five Rules translate the theory of Identity and IDQ into practical parental behaviour. They focus on:

• modelling calm under pressure

• strengthening a child’s Inner Compass

• elevating Explanatory Style

• building resilience through language

• teaching independent thinking (including Newton’s Law of Debate)

The Rules are not techniques for control. They are habits of attention and language that raise a child’s Identity Quotient over time.

They are first introduced in the Five Rules for Inspirational Parenting series in The Inner circle and are woven throughout Part 2 of The 7 Skills to impress™, where real-life stories demonstrate them under pressure.
