Thinking, Fast and Slow (Penguin 2011) is a book by Daniel Kahneman.
The book’s title and the terms System 1 and System 2 are used throughout The 7 Skills to impress™ book. They first appear in Part 1, Chapter 4.
Over the years, the research of Kahneman and his colleagues has helped us better understand how people make decisions, why specific judgment errors are so common, and how we can improve ourselves.
Kahneman and his colleagues discovered that two systems – automatic and conscious, decide our behaviour.
The automatic system is the equivalent of what most of us would call the subconscious mind, and he called it System 1.
The conscious system enables logical thought, problem-solving and the restraining of impulses. He called this System 2.
