Stroop Test

The Stroop Test appears in Part 1, Chapter 3 of The 7 Skills to impress™ book. Please also see ‘Stroop Magnet’ and ‘Thinking Fast, Thinking Slow’.

A classic psychological experiment (Stroop, 1935) demonstrating that System 1 and System 2 compete for attention. The Stroop test shows how hard it is to ignore the pull of System 1 even when it is irrelevant. It illustrates why focusing on what you want (not what you fear) is so important.
